Sapsucker

A surprise visitor , though one ( as you can tell by the holes in the trees) who has been here before ( or more likely one of his relatives). I don't usually see them in our yard, but it was snowing all day so the feeders were busy. This one was behaving badly by chasing one of my downey woodpeckers off  all morning. So I put out a second suet feeder away from the first just for the downey. And it worked!
The extras are a side view of the bird with some branches in the way . Of course no clear side shots! And a cabbage white  caterpillar on the flowering kale from 3 weeks ago just before the colder weather hit for real.
