Ready to go
See yesterday's backblip for the baking marathon.
We dragged ourselves out of bed at the unearthly (to us) hour of 7:30, drank coffee, and headed up to the village hall to set up shop. I don't know why the committee decided 9 a.m. was a suitable start time. We didn't see a soul till 11 a.m., apart from stallholders going round each other's stalls and buying things from each other.
Business picked up though, as the social club had laid on a 10-euro lunch and people arriving for lunch shopped first. So I did most of my business in the next hour. Lunch was excellent, but the afternoon was pretty quiet ... hardly surprising as it was 4C, windy, and alternately raining and hailing, so not many people were inclined to venture out. Father Christmas showed up though. The children appeared to be tolerating him for the sake of their parents. Total raised for charity: 84 euros, not bad since I was only charging one euro per slice.
Biggest news today is here! Scroll down to the bottom for some brilliant news. So pleased for S; Mark Avery is a big cheese on the British rewilding scene. :: Happy dance ::
