She didn't deliver the expected snow outside the house so I had to go high on the moor, braving some determinedly hostile conditions. The night had been the noisiest I've ever experienced in the flat, drowning out the TV at times. It had mostly blown itself out by the afternoon but the wind was still strong on the tops. Underfoot conditions were pretty hostile too. It was a mixture of ice, slush and deeply drifted snow. Hard work. I was thankful to get home in one piece and having avoided frostbite ... just.
