Poolbeg chimneys

This blip is a silhouette of the Poolbeg chimneys in Dublin, taken at sunset from the Bull Wall on the north side of Dublin Bay. They were built for a power station in 1969 and 1977 and are more than 200 metres high. They are no longer functional, having been decommissioned in 2010.

Dubliner's are divided in their opinion of the Poolbeg chimneys: some consider them to be an iconic image of the Dublin skyline while others think they are a carbuncle on the landscape. As I am not a Dub I wouldn't want to venture an opinion.
