The Dawn of a Day

This was the first real trial of cold water swimming when we ventured in to the sea at Porty with the air temperature 3° and a chilly NW breeze blowing across the beach.
Neither LeeAnne or I were wearing wet suits so it was a pretty quick bob about in the waves. However it was worth it to be immersed and see the sun rise over Joppa.

There was a clumsy dressing with cold fingers and damp bodies but the quick march along to the Beach House for breakfast reminded us we had toes. Bacon and Sausage butties and hot drinks and we were able to thaw out in the warmth and people watch in the sunshine.

Home to a hot shower and a little newspaper reading before another walk back into town for a coffee meeting with the Maggie’s Kitchen Table folk in the RSA gallery café now that we have been relocated because of lack of space in Maggie’s itself.

The town is so gridlocked with traffic because of road closures that it’s quicker to walk everywhere, though obviously Portobello is a bit far. The driver of the #26 bus back in the morning forgot about his altered route and had to apologise that he had taken us back into town the wrong way.
