Joanna and I had a day out today near Gretna. First of all, we went on a 4 mile walk starting at Gretna Gateway and heading south along the River Sark to the merse beside the tidal Esk. Just before reaching the Kirtle Water, we came upon the Lochmaben Stone, which I'd read about but never previously visited. If you click on the link, you can read about its significance and history.

Joanna and I had lunch at Pizza Express after our walk  - the restaurant was very quiet and we tried not to listen to the piped Christmas music (it's still NOVEMBER!). Finally we visited Grape Tree to replenish our store cupboards :-)
