Cruel to be Kind
That's our excuse. Mrs B was not happy with the state of the hedge at the end of the garden, so she (mostly) has been braving the stream of traffic (at least two vehicles an hour) to remove the ivy and unwanted decorative bushes.
But that threatens to leave the steep bank vulnerable to erosion and run-off while we wait plant whips of native hedging; so we have tried to support the bank with assorted twigs and weed mat. It is not helped by the friable nature of the soil on the bank, unlike the clay in the flower beds, but we have ordered coir matting to peg out on the bank and through which we will plant the whips.
Of course several locals have offered advice while wandering past, the most valuable of which was from a landscape gardener . . .
I'm happy to pass on any advice from the Blip community, of course.
