XRace
After a little procrastination (didn't enter online), Adam and I finally entered the race. Classic fine morning and around 200 kids and parents had gathered for the XRace mystery adventure.
Having participated in the Weetbix tryathalon several weeks ago this was a slightly different scale, i.e not many people, so were unsure what to expect.
All in all however a fun event, 10 challenges ranging from navigating a course blind folded, to painting to and finger nails, to guessing music, to sack races, and to shooting a netball hoop. Adam and I had a strategy, steady pace, do all the outlying challenges first, and then head back to the finish.
It worked. At the last challenge, like most ads (guess the age of the pop stars) I was put in bouncy castle jail, and then we exited just in front of another pair to come third overall. Woohoo! And in fact, first in the 10 year old division. Unfortunately however they weren't the most organised and we didn't discover we were first until we got home, someone else took away the trophy. Oh well, we know we came first, the glory is ours ;-)
Edit: Via Facebook they have confirmed we were first, and trophy is coming our way. Nice ;-)
Now back to reality. The chickens are proving to be real escape artists, so security enhancements this afternoon.
Rounded off with a 42K ride thru the port hills. Tired now, time for a BBQ and an early night.
