But guess what I found out about this shrub...you can eat the berries and they taste like toffee! They are not poisonous which I had always thought. Jack, Oreste and I tried a couple each!

The shrub in our garden was already fully grown when we moved in in 1996. I have ignored it most of the time...until today when I was struck by how the sun made the berries glisten. So having taken a couple of pics I googled the name and found some extra information on a website WildFoodUK. Not poisonous, but can make dogs sick, birds love the berries!

This evening I had a lovely online chat with Julie in Spain. Its great to be "in" her kitchen, chatting for ages, catching up with life in Alcaudete. Maybe we will get there in Spring 2022!
