Aveiro

took a train south today to Aveiro about an hour away (€6 rtn), some people called it the Amsterdam of Portugal, others  Venice, as it has a canal but it's not really like either. It does have a couple of canals and some lovely Art Deco buildings but appears to be a bit run down these days with lots of shops closed down and buildings left abandoned. Worth a visit though if you're in the neighbourhood even just for the fish market with the fabulous fish restaurant above.
