Sunny Saturday
Today’s entry shows the morning sunrise illuminating the southern stairwell walls and cornice. They are the external walls and the green paintwork is the original paintwork applied in 1841.
The unsuitable magnolia colour applied afterwards effectively locked moisture into the wall rather than allowing it to "breathe" and thus avoid the build up of excess moisture.
The wall now responds to the atmosphere as it was designed to do. However, hanging artworks on it, unless there is space between them and the wall is not a good idea.
The coming week celebrates American Thanksgiving. We give this festival as much importance as Christmas.
Pat is spending the day preparing various food goodies.
