Skye Terriers

Went the walk round Edinburgh looking at the free outdoor street gallery of the Britain from the air photographs. It was very interesting and the photos were very good. information at www.britainfromtheair.com

We started the walk at Greyfriars Bobby and did the walk stopping for the obligatory coffee. When we returned to the statue of Greyfriars Bobby there was a collection of Skye Terriers like Bobby. I asked one of the owners if it was an annual event and was told they had been doing it for 3 years. Skye Terriers are rarely seen now and was informed that only 20 or so puppies are born each year. Difficult getting them in focus as they were constantly moving - this is the best.

Greyfriars Bobby was a Skye Terrier who became known in 19th Century Edinburgh for supposedly spending 14 years guarding the grave of his owner until he himself died on 14th January 1872.
