a lifetime burning

Avebury

The clear cold dry weather encouraged us out today, and we chose to go for a walk around the Avebury word heritage site.  The national trust map showed this as a burial mound, although it and its immediate neighbour both seem to have been colonised by beech trees.  A fortnight ago the colour would have been utterly magnificent, and even now there is a lovely copper carpet on the ground.  I've put up an extra of Cathy standing on another mound.

We completed our circuit of the site just as the sun was starting to set and drove back home westwards into the most glorious sunset I've seen for quite a while.
