There Is Light Today
Unlike the last time I blipped it.
It was a lovely morning today but I had to scrape the ice off the car before heading off to do my meals on wheels round.
There is a rather twisty section of road with trees and moorland I travel which only gets the sun in patches - the rest hangs onto the frost for dear life. I stopped at one point to shoot the moon and the frost can be seen in the shadows.
What you don't see is the ice on the road. Big patches, small patches, patches that change from damp road to black ice........
It made for an interesting, slip & slip drive on a section of road that has all sorts of tight corners and adverse cambers (and vehicles on the wrong side of the road having been caught out be the corners and cambers) at the best of times.
By the time I got through that bit of road and started dropping down off the moorland there was no sign of any frost or ice (all the better to catch the drivers heading the other way) - just a lovely sunny view with some nice cloud patterns.
Those clouds had hardly moved 3 hours later - I had just got closer to them.
When I got home SWMBO was having a snooze on the settee, so I made my lunch, ate it and went out to collect her prescription from the health centre and arrange for it to go to a local supermarket which has a pharmacy in it (our local pharmacy has overstepped the mark with its ineptitude once to often). I dropped off the prescription and spoke to the pharmacist who assured me that their turnaround is 3 days - not 7. I was told that the drugs should be ready to be collected in "about 20 minutes" (rather than the minimum 40-50 minutes at the other place), so I went and had a coffee and was back in just under 20 minutes.
The prescription was ready and waiting. Excellent.
When I got home SWMBO had moved from the settee to bed - obviously disturbed by the deliveries that were sitting waiting for me.
Both glue orders had tuned up. The one that I really wasn't expecting to arrive .... ever, turned out to be the wrong stuff. It was medium thickness rather than thin. I only found that out when I cut the seal off the tip and applied it to the piece of wood on the lathe. It also turns out that the other stuff is thin - but isn't superglue which sets in 10-15 seconds.
Talk about fecking annoying.
Both will get used but it is no less annoying.
Late afternoon I headed off to Bags' house for the usual babysitting session, only to find that Bags' was not going to the gym since it is the son-in-law's birthday so I was surplus to requirements.
No problem - it still got to see the monsters and catch up on gossip from school and the work-front.
Still no sign of SWMBO so I think I will be catering for one this evening.
