1st May..........
1st May 1994 - 13 years ago today, I was attending a motor race meeting at Brands Hatch. When I got home, I found out that Ayrton Senna had been killed at the San Marino GP. I remember it like it was yesterday. I felt like I'd lost a close friend, although I'd never met him personally, but he was my sporting hero, and was (in my opinion) the greatest racing driver of all time. 3 World Championships, 41 Race Wins, and 65 Pole Positions. A great loss!
Also....
1st May 1982 - 25 years ago today, a Avro Vulcan (One of the best planes every designed in my opinion) bomber dropped 21 1000ib bombs on Port Stanley airport, giving the Argentinian invaders a nice wake up call, and annoucning to everyone that the UK meant business. Somehow, under Mr Blair, I doubt we could achieve such a show of power again.
