Children's Peace Monument

We visited Hiroshima - the A-bomb dome, the museum and the peace park.

Possibly the most affecting sight were the thousands and thousands of peace cranes that had been donated, inspired by Sadako Sasaki who started to fold origami cranes when she was diagnosed with leukemia, following radiation exposure from the atomic bomb.

The statue is of Sadako but is a memorial to all the children who died from the effects of the atomic bomb.
