Perfect bound

Straight out of the package from Bloomsbury Publications the 800 page history of jazz cracks open like my composure just about any time I'm at the House these days. My friends, a perfect binding, being markedly less than perfect, particularly in collections where books will be manhandled, stepped on, spilled upon and torn, is soooo unsuitable for a book of that girth.

Alas, the profound disappointment experienced when something cracks at a mere touch. Something I'd like to use and carry and hold and lose and find and drop and polish and bend and break and patch and keep on using. A lifetime of devotion, particularly at my hands, is gonna result in some bruising. True, I overdue it. Break things for the sake of it, but don't we agree that for the long haul we need something sturdy?
