Scram!
That's what it looks like this female Northern Flicker said to the little Red-breasted Nuthatch whizzing by on the right. After Monday's torrential rains, the birds are making up for lost time at our feeder. (There's a Steller's Jay in the extras and a second photo of this Flicker, looking up at the feeder.)
We're fortunate to live on high ground. Other areas of Bellingham and nearby cities and towns, as well as rural areas in the county, had serious flooding, with roads washed out and businesses and homes flooded. I've included a photo of the "above the fold" front page of our local newspaper in the extras too.
