Fish Story
Here Eric stands gazing at Larry's now-closed Willamette Auto Service just across the railroad cut from us. He noticed that Larry just arrived for his daily visit to the place. See the red pickup?
We stopped to see if the fish were still in the yard right here. Fish!? Yup. We noticed a pile of something here yesterday; wondered if it was silvery leaves? what, could it be fish? It was. A pile of smelt just lying there.
Then, later in the day, Dianne, who lives about 1/2 mile from here, said she found a dead fish in her backyard. Figured a cat must have dragged it there from someone's water feature, or maybe a bird. What a bizarre coincidence. So we speculated some more and took pictures, see Extras. But, Dianne went further (and farther, I suppose, as she may not walk here on her daily walks) and knocked on the door. Turns out the guy said he wanted more room in his freezer and threw out the smelt he no longer wanted to keep, dumping them on the lawn hoping crows would take them away, but they haven't. Dianne thinks her fish was more like a goldfish, but what a fishy thing.
