Grey Heron

I decided to leave it a bit later (about 30 min) before heading up to the loch as it would be a bit lighter. When I got there it was a bit lighter but the young one was nowhere to be seen. I was standing looking up the loch thinking I'd blown it when I heard her "call" and saw her flying from the other end of the loch. She never fails to amaze me! I really don't know how she recognised me from that distance. When she landed the Swans were over along with the Cygnets (who I thought had been chased  off). I had brought some bird food as well and scattered it a bit away from where the young one was and the swans etc started scrambling for it. I was then able to feed the young one relatively undisturbed.  I looked to my left and sitting on the fence a couple of foot away was the Crow (another one who I find amazing) so it just had to get a bit as well. All in all a busy end of the loch today.
I think the young one looked so posed in this shot, shows how she is developing into a young adult!
