Boosting carbon storage
By decomposing organic material, fungi have the ability to improve carbon storage and increase valuable nutrients such as nitrogen.
Their presence in fields indicates good soil health in areas that can reduce flood risk by slowing the flow of water, while providing nutrients to plants which support insects, birds and mammals.
I’m enjoying learning from the Nature Friendly Farming Network and several farmers that I’ve started following on other social media platforms. They give me hope for the future … but governments have to listen to them if they are serious about tackling climate change.
