Up on the diving rocks

Another night of rain ending just before I went out on my morning run. Little to see, although I did manage to get a good photo of a bright orange tractor which was parked near the beach after the boat it had brought there had been launched.

After lunch and before they headed back to Auckland, the lads wanted to go to the beach. So we set off. Mr H had forgotten to pack anything for swimming so ended up using a pair of "shorts" instead. Young L was better prepared.

Just out from the shore are some rocks which on the seaward edge are between 1 and 1.5 m above the sand. Daughters used to use the rock to dive or jump from at high tide. We had arrived about an hour after high tide, and the rocks were still covered; just.

As the boys played in the water, on the sand and with the stones they could throw into the water, the receding tide exposed more and more of the top of the rocks. First Young L clambered on the nearest part, and then Mr H found his way to the outer bit.

He very attentively assisted his younger brother to come around to where he could climb up (the water was up to the middle of the little fellow's chest), and then helped him climb up.

Here they are starting to head back to shore. No diving, or jumping yet.
