Lacock Abbey NT (Saturday 13 November 2021)
With the builder and a team of plasterers all at work, it seemed ideal to absquatulate to somewhere else and leave them to it.
I drove to Lacock but arrived before Lacock Abbey had opened so had a long walk around the village first. I walked up to the Bide Brook ford on the path to Reybridge, had a walk around the churchyard, looked at a stall of tracklements, honeys and other edibles.
I had gone there looking for Autumn colour. Being a Saturday the grounds were busier and noisier, with some exuberant large families and dogs. I covered all the areas including the rockworks beside Bide Brook, the adjacent fields with flocks of sheep, and the deep pool, from the side of which I captured this view including Lacock Abbey itself.
The day included visits to Melksham, Trowbridge and Steeple Ashton, so that when I got back work was over for the day. The plasterers had finished but there is a lot of painting and maintenance to be done.

Grateful Dead: Jerry Garcia (vcl, ld gtr), Bob Weir (rh gtr, vcl), Keith Godchaux (pno), Phil Lesh (bass, vcl), Bill Kreutzmann (dr)

The Grateful Dead returned to England two years after their quick visit in 1970 as part of a European tour and were here between April and June, including a four day residency at the Lyceum, and a 4CD of selections from their English dates called Steppin' Out With The Grateful Dead included this performance of China Cat Sunflower, originally from their album Aoxomoxoa (1969), but already in their stage act from 1968. Steppin' Out... was my most recent Grateful Dead acquisition and CD1 (with this track) was played on this day.
