Butcher's Dam....

.....tranquil as fragrance of flowering heather fills the air, it was beautiful. Butcher's Dam is on the outskirts of Alexander, beautiful spot through all the seasons.

We've covered alot today, the drive I believe would usually take 4 hrs BUT a known blipper wanted to stop here, there and everywhere, hubby didn't mind :)

We drove through the Lindis Pass with low cloud creeping down the valleys and softly draping the tops of the mountains, it was stunning. We noted lupins of purple and pink were with us until we reached Tarras from then onwards there were clumps of yellow lupins. Round Clyde heather was in flower, gorgeous soft lilac along with red, white and pink Valerian nestled amongst rocks, pretty. Roxborough was a lovely town, small with lovely old architecture, we also stopped by the Roxborough Dam, amazing structure. From here on we passed through rolling hills with fields of wild pink, purple and white foxglove, mostly sheep farming with dairy farms becoming more frequent. Must just note cabbage trees are in full bloom.

Tonight and for a few nights we're in Gore, hoping to explore Southland.

Warm thanks for your thoughtful words stars and hearts, delighted you enjoyed Lake Tekapo basking in sun with flowering lupins, much appreciated :)

Happy Sunday everyone :)
