Buttermere from High Crag
One of those days where the plan changed with the astonishingly beautiful weather. Shorts and T-shirt in the middle of November, in the Lakes. The mild and quiet weather was expected. The warm sunshine was a bonus.
For the record, my route took me from Rosthwaite to Honister and Fleetwith Pike, from where I followed the skyline to Haystacks, High Crag, High Stile and Red Pike, before the brutal descent to Buttermere. Along the lakeside and up to Honister again before the final drag back to Rosthwaite. Almost 20 miles and 5,000ft of climbing. I'm a little jiggered. It was a grand day out.
