Street March

Workers at the Clarks’ Distribution Centre in Street have been on strike for the last few weeks in protest at the Company’s plans to fire them and rehire them on reduced pay and less favourable conditions. Some stand to lose thousands of pounds off their annual salary.

Today they staged a protest march through the High Street with the support of members of other Unions and people from Bristol, Manchester and Wales. I caught the tail end of a long line of protesters here, walking past the Company HQ.

This afternoon Chris & I enjoyed a close and exciting match at Huish Park against Eastleigh who were just above us in the table. We scored two goals from fierce shots and ran out 2-1 winners after Eastleigh fought back to equalise in the second half. That’s 5 games unbeaten now and we’re playing some attractive football with a lot of spirit.
