Mellow Bridge over the Liffey

Went for a walk along the Dublin quays of the river Liffey this afternoon and took this blip of Mellows Bridge. Built in 1768 it's also known as Queen Maeve Bridge, however as queen of Connacht, I don't think that feisty lady could have ever visited Dublin, especially since it didn't exist as a place when she was busy raiding Ulster to steal their prize bull. The extra is a newer bridge, the Rory O'More Bridge, built nearly 100 years later in 1859. Rory O'More led a rebellion against English rule in 1641, there was another rebellion in 1798 and finally one in 1916. Obviously nobody ever told the Irish that the definition of insanity is to keep doing the same thing and expect a different outcome!
