So.....
I had a call this morning while I was working to say that the duty neurosurgeon had looked at Rafi's brain scan and it showed too little fluid in the brain cavities. This is also dangerous and means that Rafi's shunt is draining too much. The rate cannot be adjusted as the shunt they put in last year has a fixed valve ( unlike his original one).
That means to sort it out the valve needs taking out and replacing with an adjustable one. The valve is on the outside of the brain so it's not such a big operation as a replacement shunt.
We came over to the Hallamshire, the operation should be tomorrow.
It's 9 years to the day that Rafi had his first brain haemorrhage. We were supposed to go out for a family meal, it'll have to wait!
Jodie and Nina visited in the evening which was a lovely distraction. I am allowed to stay and Rafi is allowed 2 visitors......I can't quite believe it!
