Sprouts

A quiet day today which started with a visit to the greengrocer and newsagent. I also dropped off a couple of ornaments to the charity shop and a bag of out of date medicines to Boots for disposal - it always horrifies me when I have a clear out of the little medicine cupboard. Then I tackled John Lewis again - the faulty microwave collection didn’t happen today as promised, in fact I found it hadn’t even been booked. Another 20 min call, mostly on hold or talking to another clueless man, then I was transferred to a lovely lady called Margaret who sorted it out in 2 mins for collection on Monday and gave me a £10 voucher in compensation. 

I’m now watching Mamma Mia - love it. How extraordinary that ABBA’s first album of new music for 40 years went straight to no.1 in the album chart and sold over 200,000 copies in its first week (only 3 other albums have done this in the last decade). Brilliant!

Professor Neil Ferguson (SAGE member) says it’s unlikely we’ll have a ‘catastrophic winter wave’ due to the booster rollout and recent high infection rates (high since July). He also said he could see no reason for younger age groups not being offered a booster after priority groups. The former Health Secretary has been reportedly approached to write a book about the pandemic and is in talks with HarperCollins - unsurprisingly there’s been an outcry that anything should be published before a public inquiry has been held.
