Blackpool: Day 1 - Fireworks & Illuminations
We arrived around 12pm and dumped our stuff in our room and set off to find something to eat and headed to the pub. Hours later we decided that we better pace ourselves a little or we would never make it out at night. We headed back to our room and got showered and changed and left for the night.
Unknown to us, there was a fireworks competition running from North Pier, so we stood and watched those before returning to the pubs.
We ended up in a Scottish Karaoke Pub, where this woman who worked there told us her whole life story. She was from Clermiston orginally, but sold her house and moved to Blackpool after being on a hen night a few years ago where she discovered she could sing and decided it was her destiny to be a karaoke worker person. She had two degrees in various subjects and complained about not using them. She recently went for a job interview and didn't get the job because she couldn't use a computer - she told the interviewer that in her day, they wrote it all down and that the only computer she can work is the karaoke one.
I dunno what it is, but I always seem to attact people who want to tell me their life stories.
It was weird being in a pub where people could smoke. It's only been 6 months or so in Scotland, but already it has become 'normal'.
Jaz and the rest of the Scottish smokers where in their element.
