Night shadows
It's funny how quickly you can lose certain skills. For the first 8 months or so this year I only really shot in black and white. Over this time I got very used to seeing the world in grey tones and stopped noticing colour. I could see how an image would look in monochrome before I took the shot. Then I decided to shoot in colour, which I have really enjoyed doing.
Tonight, I thought that do some black and white photography. To start with, I couldn't see anything at all in mono, I kept seeing the colours everywhere. The first set of images were, well, crap. However, gradually, as time passed I started to adjust to seeing images in terms of tone, form and texture again. I am quite happy with this image, but it took a lot of effort to turn my brain back to this style of shooting. I did really enjoy it though as my photographic heart still belongs to black and white!
