Il Pleut Chats et Chiens

Or whatever the French is for it chucked it down all day!
Off to Beziers today to meet our Mussy friends Fiona and Diarmid who are in France on holiday. It was raining so heavily we couldn’t really explore the town properly but instead had to retreat indoors for coffee, a delicious lunch and a visit to the cathedral. It eased up a bit in the afternoon so we stopped off to see these Fonseranes Locks. They’re a flight of staircase locks on the Canal du Midi that consist of eight oval-shaped lock and nine gates, which allow boats to be raised a height of 21.5 metres over a distance of 300 metres (copied from Wikipedia) and then we went to Capestang (beautiful village) to see Diarmid’s boat. Rainy drive back to Sete for hot tea and showers. I enjoyed watching Bake Off with Suz in the evening after another tasty meal. A lovely day despite the weather.
