Portokalopita
It was probably just as well that I didn’t discover the bakery until yesterday, it was far too tempting. I had Portokalopita /Orange Pie for a late second breakfast. I’m not quite sure why it’s called a pie and not a cake which it much more resembles, perhaps because one of the main ingredients is crushed phyllo pastry which is macerated in orange syrup and yoghurt. The best, of which this is an example, is strewn with tender roasted orange slices. It pretty much fortified me until I got home.
