Lambs and landscape

Today we were doing some wedding reconnaissance with Grace and John who are up for the Easter break.

Their wedding reception will be in the lovely village of Laycock across the valley from us, about 3 miles as the crow flies. We were checking out the village hall for table sizes and other dimensions to help with planning but they also wanted to look at possible photo locations.

Just a short walk from the Main Street is this lovely view of the dry stone walled fields above the hamlet of Goose Eye seen in the valley bottom. ( Appropriately there were geese in this field too) I love the way the remaining snow picks these walls out. This was also the first lambs I have seen in the fields.

G and J are very keen for the wedding to be thoroughly Yorkshire in flavour and many of the guests will be staying in Haworth (famous for the Bronte family who lived in the parsonage here) which is just beyond these hills across another deep valley.

We went on there for lunch and a look around as John hasn't been before and his family will be staying there over the weekend of the wedding. Being a Bank holiday it was very busy but it was pleasant in the sun. For our Kiwi friends - there was a bit of a surprise, a restaurant I haven't seen before called Wharenui, The Meeting House Wine and Deli. Must give it a try sometime.
