I've recently started taking tennis lessons and so far it's clear that are many lessons in it for me beyond the obvious of learning how to hit the freaking ball!

One of the first things that my instructor taught me is that you can tell if you've hit the ball too early if it goes left and too late if it goes right. All my balls go left... Apparently tennis is in my life to teach me patience. When you get totally ready but wait to swing until the ball comes to you, you hit this "sweet spot" and it's not only effortless but has this great sound of pure ease...

..and I thought I was just in it for the cute short tennis skirts and "love" in the score!
