Monday: Lobby

Not the most exciting photo but it’s at least symptomatic of the fact that I’m travelling.  Welcome to Ottawa!

I flew to Ottawa this morning and now have a couple of days of meetings while I’m here.  A friend of mine, who is currently the Croatian Ambassador to Canada, was also on the same flight and we’d made an arrangement to meet at the airport for coffee.  A big bonus for me was that he was able to invite me into the Club Class Lounge.

The flight was fine until……..45 minutes before the end when there was an announcement asking for any medical professionals onboard.  Three people appeared to step up but it seems there was quite a serious situation on board.  Someone was being given CPR for about 45 minutes including during landing - it carried on until the paramedics got there.  I’m not entirely sure what happened but that length of CPR can’t be good……..it was really sobering to see the intensity with which people were working.

My Croatian pal, Vice, gave me a lift into town and then I had dinner and a few pints with my colleagues from Toronto and Calgary, both of whom I’m meeting for the first time.

I tend to approach my write-ups chronologically so it’s really not my intention to appear breezy about what happened on the flight.
