The Flight of the Heron

This packhorse bridge used to carry the Old Military Road over a burn but the diverting of the burn and realignment of the road have left it redundant and derelict. It is easy, in the half light, to imagine fugitive clansmen taking refuge from the Redcoats beneath the arch - perhaps I have read D. K. Broster's The Flight of the Heron too often.
