Rays

Today I went for a dog walk before breakfast, and the world was all quiet. The dog enjoyed the walk even if it was a little damp. After breakfast we went to get a plastic tarpaulin to cover my mother-in-law's shed with - the roof leaks.

We came back from Carrefour with a 4x6 m tarp, some bread for later on, some spring clips and a replacement pair of switches for bedside lights.

While it was dry we folded the tarp into a 4x3 m sized and laid it on top o the shed and clipped it to the edges. The size is an almost perfect fit. We then lashed it down vertically and horizontally with some nylon twine. It's not a perfect job, but if it keeps the rain out over winter, we can put some fresh roofing felt in the spring. The main risk is the wind lifting it now... The roof only leaks a little and only when the rain is heavy, so the tarp should keep the rain out if it stays in place.

I then swapped the old Wilko switch with new one, I think the old switch wasn't springing any more and it would just arc giving flickering current, which isn't good for the LED and probably not a good idea in general.

The switch was €3.50 or €3.50 for the same switch but with 1.5 m of cable and a euro plug already assembled. It's bonkers that they cost the same, from the same manufacture in the same shop....!

I took the dog for another walk and we had a light lunch, after that had settled we went to the beach to look for things - it's a big tide today. There were some impressive clouds over Saint-Malo to the west of us, and I took several pictures of them with the light shining through the clouds. I think this is the best of the set. The dog loved the big empty beach and my wife and her mother had a good time looking for things to eat (they are French). We came back with one warty venus shell, which well considered a good clam to eat, is it's hardly a big meal...!

Early start in the morning...
