Removal of the bow bridge

I had a refreshing afternoon walk. With a last glance on the old bow bridge. It will be removed tonight. In 2004 we got a new bridge, the old one isn't safe any more. Most people in Vianen regret to see it go. It was here since 1936 and can be seen from afar. But apparently it is too costly to keep it.

There's a pontoon ship next to it. Tonight they'll put the bridge on the pontoon. The plan was to do it during the day, but the wind makes it too dangerous.

Update: there is a technical problem so the operation has been cancelled for tonight. No new date set yet.
