Sally Mair - Loving life

Poori!

I'm still in Loughborough and spent today at another Cursillo meeting in Shepshed. All went smoothly and plans are moving forward towards the day when events can be planned and take place with confidence once again.
This evening I went for dinner with Chris and his family. I first met him in 1992 or 3 I think, when he was living in Edinburgh and around 11 years old. Our aquaintance was renewed when I went out to India in 1997 and has continued since then. On being asked if I had any favourite Indian food I asked for Poori, which is normally a breakfast dish, a fried 'bread' served with potato curry. In India it is usually served on a Banana leaf. See extra. Denita and their friend Shiny set to in the kitchen and poori after poori appeared. I ate far too much and then just to add to my pleasure we had some Kessari for dessert. Kessari is a delicious sweetmeat made with semolina and cashews and raisins .
The sharp eyed amongst you will notice that we ate India style using our fingers. It's so nice to be able meet and share meals with friends. Especially nice for me to be reminded how much I enjoy Indian food.
I missed the big sing for COP 26 which took place outside the Scottish Parliament today. It was organised by the Iona Community, the pictures I've been sent of the event make it look like it was raining. I do hope it went well, I would have loved to have been there.
Keep safe and well folks, it's very windy here, hopefully the wind will have dropped in time for my drive to Cumbria tomorrow.
