Mary's birthday ......

...... Lunch!
It's Mary's birthday on Monday as she will be out with her daughter I thought we'd go to lunch today. I've been to this place for I'm sure 60 years , seeing it go through various stages . It was a farm house run by 2 elderly ladies producing the most fabulous roast sunday lunches and cream teas during the week. When my mum & dad visited from the Midlands, they just loved having a cream tea there. The ladies became unable to carry on , the farm house was sold and became a country pub, still keeping it's farm house style it has so much history .originally being part of the Titsey Estate , it was purchased by Sir John Gresham (a prosperous merchant & became the sheriff of London in 1537, Botley Hill Farmhouse was purchased in 1546, it contained a magnificent fireplace bearing inscriptions thought to be of Turkish origin. Over the years it has gone through several styles of Pub's/ Restaurant's but today I just thought it had gone up a step further. The service was superb, the meal was very good and the presentation I thought was excellent. The scene we experienced from our table just completed the ocasion, just right for a celebration lunch.
Afterwards we popped to Waitrose for a couple of bits! Oh my! Mary , you are something else, but you make me smile, others may get irritated , but I love you as a friend . Long story won't go into it!!
Do hope you've all had a safe & enjoyable Saturday.

Thoughtful ..... about being " crazy sometimes", today was no exception. Thank you Mary for an enjoyable 3 plus hours.
