Crazy Arms

Another disgusting day - strong winds and heavy rain. It was unfortunate that a group calling themselves 'Time for Change Argyll and Bute' had planned a 'Blue Wave' event, asking people to dress in blue and march from Station Square along to the war memorial to protest about climate change and rising sea levels. I intended to join in, at least to take photographs, but the weather was so bad that I rather chickened out. Apparently some 60 folk turned up.

Another new group, 'Adventure Oban', had planned a beach clean, not so much the usual litter pick but a one off to collect the heavier stuff - lorry tyres, traffic cones, old ropes, a hoover and the like. I went down for that, to spread the word by wearing my 'Keep Oban Beautiful' hi-viz, and a few folk turned up. One young lady had found an artificial arm which was made to look as if it had been ripped off and the fingers chopped off! Maybe it was a leftover from Halloween! I took a couple of pictures, but loved the look on her face in this one!

I stuffed all the 'ordinary' rubbish in the nearest bin, apart from a perfectly useable plastic football and a nice measuring jug,  and set off home, the rain having eased off, and did a litter pick on the way home. Popped up to McCaig's Tower expecting a mess after huge numbers of people going up there last night to watch the fireworks, but it wasn't that bad apart from broken glass up on the viewing platform.

Altogether one of the less exciting days for some while!
