The company of goats
A slightly earlier start after another solid sleep, perhaps the amount of caffeine in a Cyprus coffee night cap is light, I doubt it. Bread bought, toasted and eaten with plenty of time to catch the 10 o’clock bus to Loutrá tis Afrodhítis. The mornings are a little chilly but by the time I was at the bus stop the temperature had soared and remained so until just after three o’clock.
Yesterday’s reptiles were replaced by goats with bells, and unfortunately far too many quads. Goodness knows what it must be like in high summer. I walked almost as far as Fontána Amoróza stopping at the somewhat underwhelming Blue Lagoon for a swim. The walk is spectacular, and I completely disagree with the Rough Guide’s observation that’s it’s tedious both ways.
I must have speeded up on my return because I was back at the bus stop an hour earlier than I had estimated and was in Polis for a mid afternoon mandarin ice cream and coffee.
News from home that a friend (young, triathlon fit) is in hospital with covid, a vaccine refuser, completely baffling. The covid measures here are impressive, you can barely buy an ice cream without showing your safety pass, and everyone wears masks in public places.
