Call Out Mountain Rescue?

I hope not.

We're flat out getting ready for the rowing club trip to Snowdonia next week. In the Oxford sunshine it's hard to imagine what the conditions will be like there but local mountain rescue teams - run entirely by volunteers - have asked inexperienced mountain walkers to stay off the mountains this weekend and posted some useful advice and rather scary videos of recent rescue that give a good picture of the extreme conditions up in the mountains.


I had the benefit of advice from my cousin whose book Call Out Mountain Rescue? is an essential guide for anyone heading out to hills and mountains this weekend.

So instead of the mountains it will be low ground mountain biking, and possibly igloo-building.

Off to bake mountains (!) of flapjacks. :-) whilst Tom disappears to a teenage party and Josh is "definitely definitely really is revising and not Facebook-ing, honest mum!"
