Casa
Does the snail realize the convenience of carrying his own house on the back? It goes wherever he goes. It grows with him. It is a house and a home. He can lock it up with mucous "door" and go to sleep for months, even years if the conditions are too hot or too cold or too dry or he just doesn't bother to participate in what we call life. Oh, and he doesn't have to deal with mortgage, sleazy real estate agents or the difficulty of finding the right place, at the right time, for the right price! There are so many variables, so many difficulties, so many reasons to get gastric ulcer (which I didn't in the end). Despite all that, today we signed a preliminary contract to buy a new place to live (we already sold our flat this summer). It's on the other side of "my river"- different paths to walk, new micro-environments to explore with the macrolens. Although we've walked there a hundred times I haven't photographed this side as much. We will move next summer. I'm excited. Don't know if that is a feeling the snail will ever experience!
