I went down to the sea again, to the lonely sea and the sky. All correct except I had company with others of the same affliction braving the water, far away from any broken sewage pipe not yet totally fixed. I did not put any part of my face or head beneath the waves.

The stars of my personal swimming buddy, LeeAnne, were not aligned correctly today so she stayed shoreside but was my helpful lookout and wardrobe mistress when I rose from the waves like some dripping, ugly mermaid.

It was bracing in the water but I had the luxury of a wetsuit jacket to keep my arms warmish. It obviously did nothing for my legs ……

We repaired to Passey’s on Portobello High street for coffee and bacon rolls, not forgetting the chat. I ‘fair enjoyed ‘myself as they say colloquially up here in Scotland. A good day! Thank you LeeAnne for the chum - another colloquial saying!
