Another dead laptop. It won't start-up at all. Complete strip down and testing of various bits, failed to find the fault. Suspected that the motherboard has died. It looks surprisingly clean though... well, aside from where the owner's partner had a go at it beforehand.
When I queried the owner about the keyboard having a banana-like curve to it, when it was removed, she confessed that she'd been frustrated with the darned thing, and hit it "quite hard." I then asked, " Was this when it stopped working?" An embarrassed confirmation, along with the admission that alcohol had been involved too.
At least the hard disk was fine, so the data was recovered okay. Suggested that a few spares: battery; charger/power supply; screen; and memory - might make a bob or two, if sold on Ebay. That cheered her up.
