Edinburgh and East Linton

We have had a morning in Edinburgh, arriving at 9.30. It meant an early morning as the drive is over an hour away, but lovely to arrive in the centre of the city before anyone else. It was empty. Our main aim had been to wander the old town, which we did. We found this quaint little close with a tea shop and had tea and a bacon roll. Then more walking, and across to some of the shops where we did a bit of Christmas shopping. We headed to the station at midday hoping to catch the 12.35 train back to the park and ride...but as we arrived the whole station was being evacuated and we had to hang around hoping to be allowed back in. There were a lot of police around and they were checking bags and using sniffer dogs. With Edinburgh just 50 minutes by train to Glasgow, security was tight.

We were allowed back in to the station at 12.45 and eventually got back to our car at 1.40. Arriving at East Linton at the home of Jon's friend Dave at 2. Jon met Dave when they both did the bushcraft training course way back when. We went out for a lovely long walk around the village of East Linton, and have spent a lovely afternoon and evening with Dave and his family. A lovely dinner, and lots of much needed chat with friends. We worked out that it was 7 years ago that we last saw them. Hopefully, they will visit Norfolk one day - although when you live in such a beautiful part of the world, I wouldn't blame them for spending all their holidays in Scotland!

Now we are about to leave for the drive back. Then tomorrow morning we will be heading home after a lovely week in Bamburgh. Relaxed, and hopefully ready for work Monday!
