The much loved tree.
A cold and sunny day got off to a great start for me with a nice hot shower. Bliss to have it working again. Remembered to phone Muircot Farm Shop and book a table for Tuesday lunch. I'd forgotten until now. The battery arrived for my car key so that's sorted. Cleared up my monthly accounts and set Roomba going downstairs before I went off to photograph the copper beech near Pitcairlie House. It's much loved by a lot of people and gets hugs from it's most ardent admirers. Afterwards I went to Helen's Myre to look for fungi. There was lots around but no fly agaric. I was hoping to find a nice big undamaged one but no luck. What I did find was quite a lot of litter. There never used to be any but looks as if teenagers with takeaways have found it. Picked up what I could but I don't feel it made much impression. There's a litter bin in the lay by too. Came home to a late lunch and a nice clean floor downstairs. I was going to hoover the stairs and upstairs but never got there. I spent the afternoon planting bulbs and pulling weeds. Only about a dozen anemone blanda left out of over one hundred, winter aconites planted although I don't hold out hopes for many coming up. They don't seem to like my garden. Made inroads into the fritillaries. Nearly half way and there are crocuses, daffodils and alliums as well. But I feel I've made progress and quite a bit of weeding got done too. Bought a poppy too from the man who comes round every year. He been doing it for thirty four years. After that I felt I'd done by bit for the day and settled down for a read with tea and chocolate biscuits.
