Sign of the Bellbird

High on the Port Hills is the Sign of the Bellbird, a landmark for day walkers. It is a shelter reconstructed from the original Sign of the Bellbird, which was built of local stone in 1914. The building was part of a dream for parliamentarian and conservationist Harry Ell, who envisaged a series of rest houses for travellers from Christchurch over the Port Hills to Akaroa.

First extra is the front of The Bellbird, the second is inside it.
